High court to hear school-funding case

The New Jersey Supreme Court will hear arguments this morning that could determine the fate of the stalled school construction program in the state's neediest school districts.

Lawyers for schoolchildren in the 31 districts covered under the court's Abbott v. Burke rulings have asked the justices to force the state to further fund the construction program, which stalled in 2005 when the initial $6 billion funding ran out and questions were raised about waste and mismanagement.
