Food service worker survey
Food service workers are politely requested to complete an online survey at this address: http://www.aft.org/psrp/leadershipsurvey.htm
This is an AFT survey. It is recommended that if you choose to complete this survey, you do this outside of school hours.

More on the better web browser
And to make surveys and all your online time popup-free and more secure, I continue to recommend the Firefox web browser, available (and free) at http://www.mozilla.org. A new book, Don't Click on the Blue E, can help walk you through the transition. You can see Amazon's page for the book here.
From the Amazon page: "With the USA Today and Forbes Magazine hailing it as superior to Internet Explorer, Firefox is clearly the web browser of the future."

AFT forms Tsunami Relief Fund
The recent tsunami disaster had a devastating effect on the educational systems of the countries involved. AFT members are encouraged to support relief efforts for teachers and other education employees. For more details, click here. A better web browser
Many teachers have come to me regarding problems with spyware and popup ads, some of which are very inappropriate for children.
Blaming individuals for this pervasive problem is counterproductive. The Microsoft Windows operating system is very insecure and susceptible to these kinds of problems.
The best solution I can offer for this problem is to use the Firefox web browser. It blocks popups by default and is much more resistant to spyware than Internet Explorer. Firefox also has many other useful features.
It is completely free and available here. A good introduction to Firefox can be seen here.
One important note: Despite the effectiveness of Firefox, it is NOT supported by the district Information Technology Systems. So at this time, it is not available as a solution if you are having popup / spyware issues in your classroom.
